Here's what you can expect in this issue
Our new tenant magazine, issue 26, takes you behind the scenes at wbg Villingen-Schwenningen. The focus is on the reopening of the historic wagon-making workshop after two and a half years of vacancy. We also report on the construction progress on Allensteiner Straße, present wbg's key figures, and welcome three new team members. The magazine is available free of charge to all tenants.
Reopening of the wagon-making workshop in Villingen-Schwenningen
The traditional Schwenningen restaurant Wagnerei reopened its doors on July 16th. The listed building, whose roots date back to before the Thirty Years' War, has undergone extensive modernization in recent months. Interior designer Wolfgang Zimmermann preserved the historic timber framing and old wooden beams, combining them with modern colors and a new lighting concept.
The new tenant of the Wagnerei restaurant is Georg "Tschortsche" Hildebrandt. The menu features German cuisine with both classic and unique touches. In addition to evening service, the restaurant will also offer a varied lunch menu, making it a real asset to the neighborhood.
Allensteiner Straße: Progress in bathroom renovation
The second major construction phase is in full swing on Allensteiner Straße. Following the completion of the energy-efficient renovation of the building envelope, the focus is now on the bathrooms. The modernization is taking place while the building is occupied. For the affected tenants, this means approximately three weeks without a toilet and bathroom.
To ensure this transition is as smooth as possible, wbg is providing sanitary containers outside and dry toilets for the apartments. The renovation will be carried out in phases, with each phase lasting approximately 6,5 weeks. Due to weather conditions, the next major construction phase, in buildings 12 to 16, will not begin until spring 2027.

The wbg currently manages 1.513 residential units, 371 of which are publicly subsidized. Since 2015, the living space has increased by over 10.225 m², while energy consumption has decreased by 19,14 kWh/m² during the same period. In 2025, the wbg invested approximately €4,91 million in its existing properties and infrastructure.
The wbg is also actively involved in the community as a proven partner of the region. Among others, it supports the Wild Wings Future youth ice hockey team, the Villingen swimming club, and the local DLRG (German Life Saving Association) branch in Villingen. Donations also flow to social institutions such as Katharinenhöhe and Sternschnuppenbande through the Lions Club Villingen support association.
New faces and insights into the team
Kai Engesser, Jürgen Wich, and Karolina Schneider have joined the Villingen-Schwenningen housing association as new team members. Kai Engesser has headed the construction and project management department since May 2026. Jürgen Wich is responsible for minor repairs and traffic safety in the field, and Karolina Schneider manages the reception area as the first point of contact.
In the new section “wbg Diary”, we also accompany Tanja Fischer from the rental management department through her daily work. She coordinates viewings, draws up rental agreements and is the first point of contact on the phone for many tenants.
